CUPCAKES ARE SELF CARE

"Yo a** always somewhere eating a cupcake. Why don't you write about that?"
-My loving brother

Y'all, I love sweets. The past couple of weeks, I've been trying to be good to my body, but it's very hard for me to pass up an opportunity to try a new dessert. Especially a cupcake. I don't know what it is. I will take a cupcake over an actual slice of cake any day. I just feel like all cakes tastes better in the cupcake form. And they're just so little and cute! I LOVE little things. Little cakes, little bottles of water, little cans of soda (yes soda, not pop), little bottles of dressing, little babies... just... anything little, okay? Except little money and little men. I'm 5'8. No thanks, homie.

So, one weekend, I was bored and craving a cupcake. It was a nice day so I went out cupcake hopping. I enjoyed myself so much, that I decided to make this a thing and share my experiences with you.

Cupcake Hopping: Much like club hopping or bar hopping; The act of hitting up 2 or more cupcakeries or bakeries in an effort to taste multiple flavors of cupcakes.

Every time I go home to St. Louis, I ask my brother to grab me a cupcake from this vegan spot by the name of Sweet Art. I first fell in love with their tasty cupcakes, when I bit into one at my niece's birthday party. The cake was so moist and the frosting was smooth and not overly sweet. You know, some frosting be so sweet, it have your teeth saying, "Damn girl, you trying to kill us?"

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of actually going into the restaurant. I told myself that I was going to be good and just get lunch this time. Who was I kidding? I got lunch and dessert! The menu is huge! They have something for everyone (vegan and non vegan), the service is awesome, the ambiance is cool and the art is dope!

Moral of the story is, if you're ever in the St. Louis area, head on over to the south side and check out Sweet Art! I can't get over the 'Kale Yeah Salad' and of course, the 'Salted Caramel' cupcake! Yum!

Oh, and it's black owned, Happy Black Love Month!

DON`T LET IT GET TO YA

"After today, I`m deleting my page" Man sit your ass down (dude off of Martin voice). We all know that you're gonna be right back here next week telling us about how you're letting go of the fake people in your life, your boyfriend getting on your nerves, these girls be tripping or posting that pointless selfie of you in the bed. I see that junkie room behind you. You could of at least folded that laundry first. Okay I get it. We all need a little social media detox every now and then. Even me. It seems like people have become numb to seeing horrible images of fighting, killing, violence and hate being displayed right in their news feeds. Its sickening. And then there`s the booty pictures. Yes, we all have some saved in our camera roll but that doesn't mean you have to post it. Mam, don't look at me like that, I know you took a booty picture and sent it to your husband while he was at the office. Y'all nasty. I often find myself desiring that detox as ...

I'M HELLA BORED: CHANGE OF HABITS

"Ugh, I'm bored." Hey ya'll! Welcome to 2019! I'm so glad that you decided to bring me with you instead of leaving me in the old year with all the people you hate. I know it's the top of the year and most of us are already a few days into our new diet plans. We cold. We mean. And we hungry. But, if you want to see change, you have to make a change, right? Photo: My Mama Change is the one thing that is consistent in our lives. Nothing ever stays the same. For the month of January, I'll be talking to you all about CHANGE . Which can mean a lot of different things for a lot of people. For me, this first week of 2019, it meant boredom . Before Christmas, I promised myself that after I finished my last blog post, I was taking some time to myself. Now, if ya'll follow me on social media, you know I go hard with the self promotion. I'm in ya'll face every. damn. day. And it ain't nothing you can do to stop me because I feel like I ha...

PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN

"I need a break." I have to say, I have been finding the internet to be exceptionally entertaining and funny lately. I'm always cracking up at someone's Instagram post, a meme on Facebook, or some random footage from Twitter. But then, there's the negativity, which is extremely draining. Y'all, I don't care how bad things get in my life, please, please, please, don't let me get on the internet arguing with people that don't have a profile picture and misspelling stuff trying to send a subliminal message to my man. Just... take my phone... okay? Photo: Stephen Nitz When I broke up with my last boyfriend, which was in the year 1802, I purposely took a short break from social media. I was upset and when I'm upset, like most folk, I have a tendency to make that apparent. I'd found myself clapping back at someone on social media once before and I was like "Britney girl, what you doin'? Ain't that why you got a blog?...
