"You don't have kids yet? That`s rare." I`m 26, never been married, engaged, or even close, why is that so rare? In my opinion, I`m just getting started with my own life. Okay maybe not JUST getting started but I`m still in my prime. Like, I`m working on myself. Look, I just don't have the money for any extra people, okay?
Ive reached the age where I`m starting to see many of my peers in my news feeds getting married and having children. Meanwhile, I'm over here stalking this sexy dude on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Myspace. (Don't act like y'all don't remember Myspace.) Marriage is a beautiful thing. I enjoy looking at everyone`s wedding photos and thinking about how I`m going to steal some of those ideas for myself one day. I`m also looking at the groomsmen to see if any of them are sexy. Don't be surprised if I show up to your reception uninvited trying to catch the bouquet. As long as dude doesn't have any kids.
Listen, don't get me wrong, I LOVE kids. I studied Early Childhood Education in college, I've had a few teaching jobs, I spend a lot of time with my nieces and nephews and I've also dated men with children. Now, if you were paying attention to my last blog post, I expressed how I have been open to dating men on each side of the spectrum up until now. It`s totally okay to try dating different types. How else will you know what you like / don't like? "Why don't you date men with children anymore?" you ask.
Here's why:
1. Because I love children, I can very easily become attached to this child. As we know, sometimes, our dating experiences don't always work out. What if we break up but I`m still attached to your kid? Now I gotta send them anonymous Christmas gifts because you mad. I don't have time for that.
2. Your child`s mother is a vital part of their life. Which she should be. However, I`m not down for establishing a relationship with another woman in order for us to work out. You mines!
3. Last but not least, I want children of my own someday. I want us to be able to share that "first child" experience together.
Look, I didn't write this blog to make single young mothers and fathers feel bad. The child that you have is a blessing. Hell, I might need your kids to babysit my kids in about six years. Y'all know I got stuff to do.
It`s still some sexy fathers out here looking real tempting though.
